Wasted talent?
Journal Entry: Sat Oct 20, 2007, 7:12 AM
A guy ive worked with for the last five years found out a week ago that he has cancer, with mabye four, to six months left to live. He is a very talented abstract artist, ive had him do several paintings for me.He has sold some of his work to people for not alot of money but mainly he has painted for himself. The funny thing is that most people, when they speak of him and his art say he has wasted his talent...
So out of curiousity I asked why? They proceeded to tell me he could have been famous, made so much money, been noticed and other such nonsense. I said I didnt think that was the case, I mean does not being highly noticed for your work make you less of an artist? I dont think so. Brians done many, many paintings, many good some at least to me not so good but how has he wasted his talent? He used his talent everyday, because he wasnt the most noticed or famous or richest artist means it was a waste..?
The only waste of a talent is not using it. Not everyone can or is supposed to be the next big thing in the art world. Oh well, its not really for me to say is it.
For one to give off a light,
One has to endure a burning.
